ClickMetrik · Untimed counter

Spacebar Counter

Count physical Space key presses without a timer. The counter is active as soon as the page loads, and every accepted press adds one to both Lifetime Count and This Session.

Lifetime Count is saved locally while This Session resets on reload. Use Pause, Undo, or set/reset controls when needed; use Spacebar Speed Test for timed CPS or Spacebar Clicker for an active score game. No account is required, and the saved count stays in this browser.

Accepted presses this load.

Physical Space presses are being counted.

Press and release the physical Space key to add 1.

A physical or connected keyboard is required. Touching the keycap or screen does not count.

What is a Spacebar Counter?

This Spacebar Counter is an untimed tally that is Active immediately after loading. Every accepted physical Space press adds 1 to both Lifetime Count and This Session. It only counts presses; it does not calculate CPS, TPS, averages, peaks, intervals, consistency, or fatigue.

There is no timer, CPS result, score, combo, or game economy. It is not the timed Spacebar Speed Test, the Spacebar Clicker game, an automatic or idle counter, a general keyboard counter, or a keyboard diagnostic.

How to use the Spacebar Counter

  1. Open the page; the counter is Active immediately.
  2. Keep focus outside editable controls.
  3. Press and release the physical Space key once per count.
  4. Watch Lifetime Count and This Session update together.
  5. Use Pause when you need Space to behave normally.
  6. Use Undo to reverse the latest undoable press.
  7. Apply a custom Lifetime value or use confirmed Reset when needed.

A long hold and browser repeat do not add extra counts; release Space before the next press. Space inside an editable control does not count. The visual keycap and mobile screen taps do not count.

Lifetime Count vs This Session

Lifetime Count
Loads from local storage, increases with each accepted press, decreases with Undo, can be set directly, and returns to zero with Reset. It restores the last successfully saved value after reload when storage is available.
This Session
Starts at zero on every page load, increases with accepted presses, decreases with Undo, stays unchanged when a custom Lifetime value is applied, and returns to zero with Reset. It is not saved locally.

Page loads with a saved Lifetime Count of 250.

After 3 presses

Lifetime 253 · Session 3

After one Undo

Lifetime 252 · Session 2

Set Lifetime 1,000

Session stays 2; earlier presses cannot be undone.

The counter never saves a complete key-press history.

How Pause, Resume, and Undo work

Pause
Stops counting without changing either total and clears held key state. Space does not count and keeps its normal page behavior while paused.
Resume
Restores counting without changing either total. The next normal press can count after Space is released.
Undo
Reverses one currently undoable accepted press from this tab, decreasing Lifetime and Session together. It cannot remove presses saved during an earlier page load.

Reload starts with no undoable presses. Applying a custom value or Reset clears the current Undo depth; Pause does not. Blur, hidden, and pagehide clear held state. Hidden and pagehide also attempt to flush a pending Lifetime save without clearing totals or automatically pausing the counter.

Set or reset the Lifetime Count

A custom value changes Lifetime Count only, preserves This Session, clears the current Undo depth, and immediately attempts to save. The valid range is a decimal whole number from 0 to 9,007,199,254,740,991. A failed write does not roll back the visible value.

Current state

Lifetime 500 · Session 12

Apply custom value 2,000

Lifetime Count = 2,000; This Session = 12. Undo becomes unavailable until another valid Space press is counted.

Reset requires confirmation, sets Lifetime and Session to zero, disables Undo, clears held state, and immediately attempts to save zero. At the maximum safe integer, new Space presses no longer increase the count, preventing an unsafe-number overflow.

Spacebar Counter vs Spacebar Speed Test vs Spacebar Clicker

Spacebar Counter

Spacebar Clicker

An endless active game with score, combo, multiplier, levels, and achievements.

Need timed speed or CPS? Use Spacebar Speed Test. Want a game with score and combos? Use Spacebar Clicker. To simply count presses without a timer, stay with this Spacebar Counter.

Keyboard limits, storage, and privacy

Accepted input

A physical or connected keyboard event whose code is Space, keydown followed by keyup, Active state, and a non-editable target. Repeat, held Space, other keys, editable targets, mouse, touch, and pen input do not count.

Cannot verify

Keyboard hardware condition, switch quality, ghosting, rollover, debounce, complete input latency, typing speed, ordinary keyboard CPS, reaction time, game skill, macros, automation, or a medical condition.

Local storage and privacy

Only compact Lifetime state is stored. Session, Pause, Undo history, raw events, timestamps, typed content, held state, and identity are excluded. Counter totals are not uploaded.

Accepted presses use a short trailing save; hidden and pagehide flush pending data, while Undo, Apply, and Reset attempt immediate saves. A read failure prevents unknown stored data from being overwritten. A write failure keeps the visible value and reports that it was not saved.
