What is a Keyboard CPS Test?

A Keyboard CPS Test measures accepted physical key presses per second during a fixed browser timer. It is a speed measurement, not a typing-speed, WPM, accuracy, latency, reaction-time, or keyboard diagnostic test.

Four test modes

Any Key locks to the first eligible physical code. Selected Key accepts one configured code. Two Key measures a fixed pair. Key Spam accepts all eligible codes while keeping a separate held/keyup gate for each key.

How Keyboard CPS is calculated

Keyboard CPS is accepted presses divided by the configured duration. Peak 1s CPS uses the busiest one-second bucket. The same shared timed-input formulas power the per-second chart and interval metrics.

Understanding consistency and fatigue

Consistency summarizes interval stability. Fatigue change compares the second-half rate with the first half; positive and negative values describe change, not ability or health.

Two-key balance and alternation

Two Key adds balance, alternation accuracy, same-key repeats, and longest alternation streak. These metrics are shown only when both configured keys are part of the official mode.

Physical keyboard limitations

Official results require KeyboardEvent.code from a physical keyboard. Virtual mobile keyboards do not produce an official result. Space is excluded because Spacebar Test has its own input contract. This tool does not diagnose broken keys.

Privacy

Compact results and personal bests stay in this browser. ClickMetrik does not store raw key sequences, DOM events, held state, per-key analytics, identities, or raw timestamps.
